Capillus laser therapy is recommended within our physician network. This FDA-cleared treatment is clinically proven to regrow thinning hair and prevent further progression of hair loss due to androgenetic alopecia (pattern balding). For only 6 minutes of use per day, Capillus laser therapy caps utilize safe, low level lasers to stimulate, energize, and renew cells within the hair follicle for thicker, healthier hair.
How does Capillus® compare to other physicians’ “dome” and laser comb products?
The two most popular alternatives to Capillus laser caps are low level laser therapy (LLLT) “domes” at physicians’ offices, and personal-use laser combs. LLLT domes offer LLLT that is both powerful and comprehensive, which may be effective in reversing the signs of hair loss. However, patients ultimately need to make time to visit the physician’s office for treatment every other day. At-home products offer the clear advantage of flexibility and convenience. However, laser combs fall short. Laser combs feature only a small number of laser diodes and must be brushed through the hair for the duration of treatment. Most patients grow tired of combing their hair for up to 30 minutes every other day, leading them to quit treatment before results are achieved. Capillus laser caps combine the power of a physician’s office dome with the convenience of a laser comb. With 272 lasers, the FDA-cleared Capillus272 Pro device offers more power and hair follicle stimulation than any other home-use LLLT device. Capillus is also battery operated, awarding patients the flexibility to use the product anywhere, at any time.
How often should I wear my Capillus laser therapy cap?
Everyone is unique, so it’s important to always speak with your physician about using Capillus products. Generally, patients are advised to wear the cap for 1 session, every day. Each session typically lasts no more than 6 minutes. To maintain best results, use of Capillus products should not be discontinued.
Are Capillus lasers safe?
Yes. Capillus technology uses a special type of low level laser light that operates at 650nm. At this level, the energy of the laser does not damage skin cells. Rather, light is absorbed by the skin without causing any pain or discomfort.
Are Capillus lasers hot?
While it is true that our lasers produce visible light and not infra-red (the wavelength that carries heat), any electrical device that has current flowing through a circuit produces a small amount of heat as a by-product. Furthermore, the flexible silicone inner shell is very insulating and will trap the body heat that is naturally given off between the device and the scalp. It is therefore expected that a sensation of mild warmth would be felt. The same effect is the reason why people wear hats in cold weather to keep warm. The hat traps the body heat allowing one to stay warm. Regardless, if the customer feels uncomfortable, we are more than willing to examine their device and ensure that all parameters are within specifications.
Do I need to cut my hair for the Capillus to be effective?
No. For most individuals, cutting or trimming hair is not necessary. Laser light typically shines through individual strands of hair to easily reach the scalp beneath. However, every patient represents a unique case. Consult your physician to better understand your hair type and whether cutting or trimming might help deliver even better results.
